Reflecting on 20 Years of Teaching Yoga

2026 marks the 20 year anniversary of when I first got certified to teach yoga. To put things in perspective, the first iPhone was released in 2007.

So much has changed in the world of yoga and in the world in general in these past two decades, and I believe a lot of those changes are related to the technological revolution that came when we all started carrying smart phones in our pockets.

I’ve been watching humanity shift by witnessing how people started to show up differently in yoga classes over the years. The truth is that it has gotten harder and harder to teach yoga even though yoga is more popular than ever. Human beings are simply not like they were 20 years ago.

Our bodies are different.

Our minds are different. Our priorities are different. Our attention spans an our abilities to process instructions are different.
